Become a Water Volunteer
Healthy lakes, streams, and wetlands need people who care.
By volunteering with local watershed programs, you can help monitor water quality, protect wildlife habitat, and gather valuable information that supports cleaner, healthier waterways throughout our communities.
Volunteer to monitor water quality in your local lake or stream. Catch aquatic organisms that help ecologists understand the health of streams or wetlands. Some of these programs are coordinated by the watershed commission, and some by Hennepin County through schools grade 6 through 12. The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) manages several volunteer programs.
Whether you enjoy spending time outdoors, want to give back to your community, or are looking for a meaningful family or student activity, there is a place for you. Complete the contact form and let us know you're interested in volunteering, and we'll help connect you with opportunities near you.
